Kanye West, elected as the “Most Stylish Man” of the year 2015 by GQ Magazine is one of the most controversial celebrities of the 21st century. Kanye is not just an ordinary human being but as he himself bluntly admits he is in fact way more than that. He identifies himself as the supreme power in his sixth album’s song when he sings “I AM GOD”. Kanye considers himself a privileged individual who has had the honour of “chilling” with Jesus.
“I just talked to Jesus
He said, “What up, Yeezus?”
I said, “Shit I’m chillin’
Tryna stack these millions”
Although Kanye is not appreciated by everyone, there is no doubt that he is unique and can be considered an utter GENIUS. Without a second thought, we can claim that Kanye is one of the most powerful artists on earth and he will remain an icon for the 21st Century. Although, many consider him arrogant, pathetic or indeed completely crazy, it is true that others see him as pure talent. After conquering the world of music, Kanye has decided to rule the world of fashion. His style is one of a kind and is conformed to suit his personality. As evident, Kanye is rarely seen adorning bright colours or establishing himself as Mr. Smiley. In fact, 99% of the time his face remains inexpressive and he conveniently transfers this lack of expression to his style by wearing dark colours, especially black.
Kanye’s style is a replica of his image: priceless. Absolutely. It is impossible to find Kanye’s clothes at a reasonable price, but honestly is there a price to dress like GOD? The first example that comes to my mind are the shoes he sells online: Yeezy’ shoes. The retail price on an average begins from between $200 to $300. However, as there is limited number of colours per model, if you are unable to buy them at retail price you might just have to spend a fortune to attain them.
When it comes to his first Fashion Week in 2015, he received unexpected criticism particularly by the creator of NYFW Fern Mallis, despite this he continued to confidently flaunt his own style, not taking into account the negative critics and pursuing what according to his words, is one of his dreams: becoming a fashion designer.
This year, Kanye was under the limelight at New York’s February Fashion Week. Kanye decided to take this event as an opportunity to release the premiere of his new album “The Life of Pablo” (formerly “waves”, formerly “Swish”). The name “waves” was deemed controversial by Wiz Khalifa, another US rapper. However, the result of the controversy that Wiz Khalifa instigated was him losing more than two millions followers on Twitter. As this controversy makes evident NO ONE should try to attack Kanye with the assumption that they have nothing to lose.
At this year’s New York Fashion Week, Kanye also released Yeezy season 3 which is his third collection, the most colourful one up till now and according to rumours, a little more affordable. Kanye has counted on the support of influential celebrities such as the Kardashian family (of course…), Jay-Z, A$sap Rocky and Tyga for advertising and promoting his brand. But more importantly, some popular models paraded for Yeezy’ season three: Naomi Campbell, Veronica Webb, Alek Wek and many more who successfully drew the attention of the awestruck audience.
Overall, it can be said that without doubt Kanye is a true artist in all possible forms who is on his path to success and no one in this world will be able to stop him achieve his goals and dreams.
Let’s finish up with a verse of “I Love Kanye” from, obviously, Kanye…
I gotta to say, at that time I’d like to meet Kanye
See I invented Kanye, it wasn’t any Kanyes
And now I look and look around and there’s so many Kanyes
I used to love Kanye, I used to love Kanye
I even had the pink Polo, I thought I was Kanye
What if Kanye made a song, about Kanye?
Called “I Miss The Old Kanye,” man that would be so Kanye
That’s all it was Kanye, we still love Kanye
And I love you like Kanye loves Kanye
